Kathy Krismer: Debut Solo Exhibition
June 9 – July 4, 2026
Art on Main is proud to present the debut solo exhibition of Dallas artist Kathy Krismer.
Featuring bold color, striking geometric forms, and expressive brushwork, this inaugural collection introduces a vibrant body of abstract work that explores intuition, balance, movement, and emotional connection. Through dynamic compositions and fearless use of color, Krismer creates paintings that invite viewers to engage their imagination and discover their own meaning within the work.
Created through an instinctive and exploratory process, the collection reflects both personal expression and creative discovery. Circles, lines, blocks of color, and gestural marks become visual conversations—revealing moments of contrast, harmony, tension, and joy. The result is a series of paintings that feel at once contemporary, playful, and deeply personal.
What makes this exhibition especially compelling is that it marks the public debut of an artist stepping into a new creative chapter. Drawing on a lifetime of experiences—from international travel and collegiate athletics to a successful career in Dallas—Krismer brings a unique perspective to her work, one rooted in curiosity, resilience, and human connection.
Whether you're drawn to abstraction, bold contemporary design, or simply the excitement of discovering a new artist, this exhibition offers an opportunity to experience the emergence of a distinctive artistic voice.

About the Artist
Kathy Krismer is a Dallas-based artist and native Texan whose work celebrates the expressive potential of color, shape, and abstraction. Born in Houston and raised in part through extensive travels in the Middle East, Krismer developed an appreciation for culture, movement, and visual storytelling from an early age.
A former All-American athlete in both basketball and diving at Texas Tech University, Krismer later pursued polo and built a successful career as one of the most sought-after massage therapists in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Today, she channels her energy, curiosity, and life experiences into a growing artistic practice defined by bold color, contemporary forms, and intuitive expression.
When she isn't painting, Kathy enjoys spending time with her beloved French Bulldog, Gronk, who keeps her company both in and out of the studio.

Artist Reception: July 23, 2026 | 5:30-7:30pm
Exhibition dates: July 10 - September 19, 2026
Location: Lakewood Branch Library | 6121 Worth Street, Dallas, TX 75214

Mon., Tues. and Fri. | 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.. Wed. and Thurs. | 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Sat. | 9am - 4pm.
This exhibition celebrates the tradition of salon-style hanging, a method of displaying artwork that originated in the great art salons of 17th- and 18th-century Europe. Rather than presenting works in a single row at eye level, salon exhibitions filled walls from floor to ceiling with paintings of varying sizes, creating a rich visual experience that encouraged discovery and conversation.
In that spirit, Art on Main presents a collection of small works by artists from its East Dallas creative community. Featuring painting, mixed media, photography, fiber art, and more, the exhibition brings together diverse artistic voices in a single shared space.
Participating artists:
Andrea Lamarsaude, Brooke Aston, Candice Lindsay, Émilie Lamarsaude, Emily Lamberty, Jacque Forsher, Karen Jacobi, Laurie Mahoney, Monica Cowsert, Natalie Lammers, Pam-ela Harrelson, Sheila Cunningham, VET and Yesenia Mejia Urieta.
Every piece tells its own story. Together, they create a portrait of the creative energy thriving in East Dallas today. Visitors are invited to slow down, explore, and discover connections between works, artists, and ideas—just as audiences did centuries ago in the great salons.
All works available for purchase.

Dakari Butler Solo Exhibition: The Mundane, Uneventful, & Ordinary Life of Miss Jones
Exhibition Dates: July 16 – August 1, 2026
Opening Reception: Saturday, July 18 | 6:00–9:00 PM
Closing Reception: Saturday, August 1 | 2:00–5:00 PM
Art on Main is proud to present The Mundane, Uneventful, & Ordinary Life of Miss Jones, a solo exhibition by Dallas-based artist Dakari Butler.
The exhibition follows the daily routines of Miss Jones, a sentient bowling pin whose life is filled with the familiar rituals many of us experience every day. Through a series of mixed-media fiber works and interactive installations, visitors encounter Miss Jones as she prepares for work, drives home, eats dinner, reflects in her diary, and settles in for the evening.
At the heart of Butler's practice is a challenge to traditional gallery etiquette. Rather than asking visitors to stand back and observe, she invites them to participate.
Throughout the exhibition, guests are encouraged to interact with objects from Miss Jones' world—including her makeup bag, jewelry box, pill organizer, diary, and kitchen accessories—creating a tactile experience that engages touch, sound, memory, and curiosity.
Using fabric manipulation, embroidery floss, polyurethane foam, found objects, and sensory elements, Butler creates work that explores connection through touch and transforms viewers into active participants.
Humorous, immersive, and unexpectedly relatable, The Mundane, Uneventful, & Ordinary Life of Miss Jones celebrates the beauty found in everyday routines while encouraging visitors to experience art in a completely different way.

Kent Barker Solo Exhibition - 50 Women over 50
Kent Barker Solo Exhibition - SEEN - Beauty Beyond Fifty
Exhibition dates: March 18-28, 2026
Opening Reception: Saturday, March 21 | 6-9pm
In 2025, photographer Kent Barker set out to honor a beauty shaped by time and experience, capturing the lives and presence of fifty women over the age of fifty. Each portrait is a testament to lived experience—strength earned, stories carried, and identities that continue to evolve.
This photographic exhibition taking place during Women’s History Month, brings together all fifty participants in a collective celebration of women who are vibrant, complex, resilient, and unapologetically themselves. Shown together, these images create a powerful visual chorus—honoring individuality while illuminating shared wisdom, courage, and grace.
This exhibition embraces age as a moment of arrival. Together, we celebrate these remarkable women and welcome viewers into a broader, more truthful vision of beauty, power, and possibility.

Karen Vanderpool-Haerle Solo Exhibition - Wander, Explorations, real and imagined.
Karen Vanderpool-Haerle Solo Exhibition | Wander, Explorations, real and imagined
Exhibition dates: February 12 to March 7, 2026 extended to March 14, 2026.
Closing Reception: March 7 | 1:30pm - 3:30pm
Wander is an exploration of places both real and imagined. Through a series of paintings and ceramics, this body of work reflects wandering as an act of discovery, exploration, and creative process.
The concept of wandering is carried from the trail into the studio, where movement through physical landscapes parallels movement through ideas, materials, and forms.
Here, wandering becomes a practice of freedom and spontaneity—an open-ended exploration of space that unfolds through the gestures of painting and the shaping of sculpture.

Han Cao Solo Exhibition - "Second Nature"
The Cape, 24x36 in., embroidery on canvas.
Han Cao Solo Exhibition - Second Nature
Exhibit Dates - January 15 - February 7, 2026
Closing Reception - Saturday, February 7 | 4:30-6:30pm (NOTE TIME CHANGE)
Refreshments will be served.
In Second Nature, artist Han Cao transforms found vintage photographs and postcards through meticulous hand embroidery, bringing new life to images that were once overlooked or forgotten. Delicate stitches bloom across faces, uniforms, and landscapes, creating layered narratives that explore memory, nostalgia, identity, and our intimate relationship with the world around us.
The exhibition reflects on the idea that we never observe life from a distance—we carry it within us. Through slow, intentional acts of stitching, Cao reveals a “second nature”: not the reality we witness, but the one we inhabit: the slow, quiet embroidery over what was, layered into what remains, shaped by time, experience, and personal history.
Artist bio
Han Cao is a self-taught fiber artist based in Dallas, Texas. Using hand embroidery on vintage photographs and postcards, she reimagines narratives with intricate thread. Influenced by her Vietnamese upbringing and early exposure to textiles through her mother’s work as a seamstress, Cao’s art explores memory, nostalgia, and identity. Each piece invites quiet contemplation, offering space to pause, reflect, and reimagine what remains.
Her work has been exhibited in solo shows at the Museum of the Southwest (Midland, TX) and Paradigm Gallery (Philadelphia, PA), as well as in a variety of group exhibitions across the United States, including at the Delaware Contemporary and the Art Academy Museum. She is a recipient of the Edmund Craig Memorial Award, and her work is held in private collections around the world.

This exhibition presents authentic Chicano lowrider cars as living works of art, displayed outdoors in a setting that reflects their public, community-centered nature.
Bajito y suavecito, or “low and slow,” describes a lowrider—both a customized vehicle and a way of life. These cars reflect their owner’s style and identity. They also evoke a history of community empowerment and are symbolic of Chicana/o identity. It’s about pride in the ride.
Lowrider culture developed within Mexican American communities as a form of cultural expression, self-determination, and creative excellence. Shaped by history, place, and lived experience, lowriders transform the automobile into a site of artistry, identity, and personal narrative. These cars are not static objects; they are functional, mobile, and relational—activated through gathering, cruising, and shared presence.
Each vehicle on view represents years of skill, labor, and intention. Layered paint finishes, hand-pulled pinstriping, airbrushed imagery, and meticulously crafted interiors reflect deep knowledge of technique as well as personal and cultural meaning. Spiritual references, family histories, neighborhood stories, and symbolic imagery are embedded throughout the work, making each car both visually striking and deeply individual.
The phrase low and slow describes both an aesthetic approach and a way of moving through the world. Cruising at an unhurried pace asserts visibility, care, and agency—inviting attention on one’s own terms. In this way, lowrider cars operate at the intersection of art, design, performance, and social practice, where meaning emerges through use and interaction rather than isolation.
Presenting these works outdoors acknowledges the environments in which lowrider culture is most often experienced—public, social, and communal spaces—while inviting viewers to engage thoughtfully and respectfully. The exhibition does not seek to relocate or redefine lowrider culture, but rather to create space for its presence, complexity, and artistry to be recognized and encountered.
“Low & Slow” honors lowrider builders and owners as artists and cultural stewards whose work carries forward traditions of creativity, resilience, and care. By slowing down and looking closely, viewers are invited to consider how art lives beyond institutional walls—within communities, relationships, and everyday acts of making.

We invite artists 18 years or older to submit work for Chicano, a group exhibition exploring the evolving identity, impact, and influence of Chicano and Hispanic art and culture in the United States.
As articulated by Cheech Marin, the term Chicano is not fixed—it is living, generational, and continuously redefined:
“Like its art, ‘Chicano’ is an evolutionary term. Each generation has as much right to define what a Chicano is as any generation that came before them. One of the main aesthetic characteristics of Chicano is traditional Mexican meets contemporary America. It’s where they meet, influence each other, and create something totally new.”
Using “Chicano” as the guiding theme, this exhibition will highlight works that reflect cultural identity, heritage, hybridity, resilience, community, and innovation—where tradition and contemporary experience intersect to form something new and vital.
Alongside its celebration of Chicano culture, the exhibition uplifts artists from the DFW area and neighboring regions, while remaining open to broader regional voices whose work aligns with the theme.

Between Gazes and Silences Solo Exhibition - Ivette Ramos Levy
Between Gazes and Silences
A Solo Exhibition by Ivette Ramos Levy
Exhibition Dates: November 20 – December 20
About the Exhibition
Between Gazes and Silences invites viewers into the imaginative, symbolic, and deeply introspective world of artist Ivette Ramos Levy. Drawing inspiration from Carl Jung’s writings on the shadow and Joseph Campbell’s concept of the hero’s journey, the exhibition explores how quiet moments of reflection can become catalysts for transformation.
Ivette’s work moves boldly between the psychological and the fantastical. Her paintings, ceramics, and sculptural pieces create a dreamlike universe populated by multi-eyed figures, hybrid beings, masks, symbolic fruit, and expressive characters that feel both whimsical and profound. Through vivid color, layered textures, and mythic imagery, she examines the space between presence and absence — the threshold where inner discovery takes shape.
A World of Symbols and Story
Every piece in this exhibition feels like a small myth unfolding.
Eyes that watch. Masks that conceal or reveal. Fragmented figures reaching toward wholeness. Strange yet tender creatures that straddle the line between humor and darkness.
Ivette’s universe is imaginative, raw, and emotionally charged — full of vulnerability, curiosity, and unexpected beauty. Each work invites you to pause, to look closely, and to consider what lies just beneath the surface.
These artworks are visually striking, symbolically rich, and unlike anything else being created in Dallas right now.
The Artist’s Invitation
Through her visual language, Ivette invites viewers on an inner journey — a moment to stand still, listen between the lines, and recognize that every gaze holds both fear and revelation. The work asks us to confront our shadows while celebrating the transformative power of silence, stillness, and self-discovery.
Visit the Exhibition
Discover the Between Gazes and Silences exhibition, an inner journey — a search for meaning through silence, reflection, and transformation. Inspired by Carl Jung’s writings on the shadow and Joseph Campbell’s concept of the hero’s journey, Ivette Ramos Levy explores how moments of stillness can become turning points for renewal.
Her paintings, ceramics, and installations reveal the space between presence and absence — where eyes, masks, and fragmented figures act as symbols of awakening and resilience.
Through these works, Levy invites the viewer to pause, to listen to what lies beyond words, and to recognize that every gaze holds both fear and revelation.

The HeART of Resilience Exhibition
-Stories of Strength and Healing After Breast Cancer
Presented by Flaunt Flat Revolution and hosted by Art on Main
Breast cancer is a journey that transforms lives, reshaping not only bodies but also identities, perspectives, and spirits. The HeART of Resilience Exhibition is a powerful visual narrative that honors the strength, resilience, and healing of breast cancer survivors as they reclaim their bodies and redefine their sense of self.
This groundbreaking exhibition brings together artists from all walks of life—students, emerging talents, and established creators—to explore themes of empowerment, self-love, and body positivity. Through painting, sculpture, photography, and more, these works will celebrate the diverse paths survivors take, whether choosing reconstructive surgery, embracing aesthetic flat closure, or finding confidence in their unique beauty.
The HeART of Resilience is more than an art exhibit; it is a movement. It is a space for dialogue, inspiration, and community, where stories of survival and transformation are shared through the universal language of art.

Creatives Heal Humanity - A Call to Gather
What if creatives aren’t just here to make beauty…
but to lead the way forward?
We believe this isn’t just possible... it’s already beginning.
All around us, artists, innovators, healers, designers, storytellers, and visionaries are waking up to a deeper truth:
The world needs more than content right now. It needs conscience. Connection. And courage.
And creatives are uniquely equipped to bring that.
But not alone.
This gathering is for those who feel the pull to create beyond their own work…
To imagine what becomes possible when we come together... not just as individuals, but as a creative force for good.
What to Expect
🌀 A guided conversation with fellow creatives who care deeply about healing, truth, and change
🌱 A space to explore what collective creative leadership might look like
💬 The freedom to listen, speak, reflect... without pressure or performance
🤝 The beginning of something we co-create… together
⏰ Time to connect with other creatives
This is not a workshop or a webinar. It’s a gathering. A spark. A starting place.
Whether your gift is painting or problem-solving, dancing or designing, writing or weaving people together — there is room for you here.
We don’t know where it’s all going.
But we know this:
We’re not meant to do it alone.
Let’s see what happens when we gather.
