Artist Statement:
I’m Kaneesha and I go by the artist name Canela Paint. My artist name embraces my Hispanic heritage and was a nickname given to me years ago by a coworker because of my skin. I am an emerging artist with a focus on pop culture digital lifestyle art
As a digital artist I create vibrant, bold, and colorful works of art that provide a mirror for those who have been historically marginalized and silenced, by reflecting their authentic experiences, joys, and struggles without shame or judgment. Through my art, I hope to create a sense of belonging, by showcasing the beauty of uniqueness and complexity.
Although my work primarily amplifies the voices and experiences of Black Women and Men, I strive to foster a global community that values intersectionality, inclusivity, and empowerment. My art is an invitation to every one of diverse backgrounds, who share similar stories of resilience, strength, and triumph to celebrate their narratives without apology.
Solo Exhibition

This body of work narrates the journey of personal transformation and spirituality, while understanding how those themes are connected to one’s willingness to grow and time given to understand their purpose.
Through deeply personal and insightful visual narratives, the collection reflects the shared experiences of balancing motherhood, changing family dynamics, navigating careers, and battling mental health issues.
