Shaded Path, acrylic on canvas, 10x8in., $300
This piece was inspired by the afternoon light filtering through the evergreen shrubs at Spring Creek Nature Preserve in Garland, TX. Soft pinks, muted greens, and warm beiges in the field stood in striking contrast to the cool, elongated shadows.
Shadows on the Bayside, acrylic on canvas, 10x8in., $300
This painting was inspired by the serene marshlands and sandy paths along the bayside at Surfside, Texas. I aimed to capture the way the different shades of green interacted with the soft afternoon light, creating a quiet yet vibrant atmosphere in this coastal landscape.
The Way Through, acrylic on canvas, 10x8in., $300
This painting was inspired by the road through a tree tunnel in Meridian, Texas. The way the light filtered through the thick canopy of trees created a display of dappled light across the road, contrasting with the deep shadows in the foreground. I was drawn to the contrast between the cool, dark shadows near me and the warm, inviting light further down the road, where the path twisted out of sight. The interplay between light and shadow gave the scene a sense of mystery and movement, as if the road was leading me into a quiet, secret world.
Artist Statement
In my landscapes, I try to capture not just the appearance of a place, but the feeling it evokes. Light is at the heart of my work—how it moves across water, filters through trees, or shifts over vast open fields. I am drawn to the way light transforms a landscape, creating moments of brilliance, softness, and depth. Rather than focusing on precise representation, I paint what I remember feeling, distilling a landscape’s essence into bold swathes of color and luminous layers.
Color and light work together in my paintings, shaping mood and movement. I seek to translate the joy and awe I experience in nature onto the canvas, using expressive textures and contrasts to convey the quiet resonance of open spaces. Whether inspired by water, fields, or shifting horizons, my work is an invitation to step into the emotional memory of a landscape, to feel its presence beyond sight alone.
