Terri Thoman has over 20 years printmaking and paper arts experience. In addition to having a BFA in Printmaking from the Swain School of Design, Terri has held several arts residencies in Venice, Italy. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions as well as the Texas Women’s Museum. She owns Paper Arts, a Dallas-based store featuring the largest selection in the country of fine arts papers from around the world.
Terri also owns Dallas Artisan Fine Print Studio. As a Printmaker, trained in the 1970’s, Terri Thoman has witnessed the shifting landscape of technology in this field. Processes she chooses to employ include Relief, Intaglio, and Planography, all rooted deep in the history of printmaking. In her work you can witness the evidence of life, the direct mark of the tools and the human hand.
erri’s artwork reflects the value she holds for the planet; her observations of atmosphere, earth, and water clearly express this passion. In the studio, she strives for sustainability through non-toxic practices, “ In my daily routine of life, whether gardening or printmaking, I am responsible for creating my existence.”
There is a whimsical side to Terri's artwork as she constantly revisits the theme of the Chinese Zodiac. Her relief prints range in size from 2" square engravings up to 5' tall woodcuts. Often these larger blocks are printed with road equipment in some parking lot!
As an Artist and Educator through the decades, Terri has been involved with the community, sharing knowledge, inspiring artists of all ages, and connecting community. Her artwork has been exhibited regionally, nationally, and internationally through a span of four decades.
