About the Residency

Art on Main is excited to announce a one-year studio residency opportunity for one emerging artist in the Dallas area. The residency offers 24/7 access to a private studio space within our vibrant arts community at Art on Main in East Dallas.

This opportunity is made possible by Danny Bollinger, who has generously chosen to sponsor the space for a fellow artist who would benefit from having a dedicated studio space for artistic and professional development.

The residency will culminate in a solo exhibition at the Gallery at Art on Main in January 2027.

We’re seeking an emerging artist who:

Demonstrates originality and dedication to their artistic practice. Would greatly benefit from access to a private studio spaceIs where they could actively develop a cohesive body of work for a solo show at Art on Main.

The chosen applicant:

  • Will be committed to participating in a creative community and the following Art on Main events:

· Spring Open Studio – March 28

· Summer Open Studio – June 27

· Fall Open Studio– September 26

· 3rd Annual Art Walk EAST – November 7

· Holiday Market – December 12

· Art After Dark Holiday Market December 18

  • Has not had significant exhibition or gallery experience

  • Is 21 or older

  • Based in Dallas (or able to commute regularly to the studio)

Visual artists from all backgrounds and disciplines are welcome to apply.

What the Residency includes:

  • One-year - private 118 sq. ft. (11.3 x 10.4 ft.) studio space at Art on Main (24/7 access)

  • Solo exhibition at the end of the residency at Art on Main

  • Ongoing mentorship and feedback from selection committee

  • Community engagement opportunities through Art on Main ongoing exhibitions, events, and open studios and interactions with studio artists at Art on Main

  • Promotion through Art on Main’s marketing and social media channels

Please note: While the studio is sponsored, furnishings, materials and supplies are the responsibility of the artist.

Application Process:

Applicants must submit via this application form:

  • Contact Information (name, email, phone, address)

  • Residency Proposal – Tell us how you’d use your time in the studio and what you hope to accomplish (1000 words max)

  • Short Bio (500 words max)

  • Artist Statement (500 words max)

  • Photos of artwork – Images of three recent works with title, media, dimensions and date.

  • Website and/or social media links

  • CV/Resume (optional but encouraged)

  • Short-listed applicants may be invited for a brief interview with the selection panel.

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of artists and arts professionals, including:

  • Andrea Lamarsaude, Owner & Gallerist, Art on Main

  • Danny Bollinger, Artist & Studio Sponsor, Real Estate Sales at Rogers Healy and Associates. Photographer. Junk Hauler (The Pickup Truck) and Junk Seller (Canton First Mondays)

  • Giselle Castro-Brightenburg, Artist, Imaging Department Manager at Dallas Museum of Art

  • Jacque Forsher, Artist, member of the SLANT artist collective and Communications Director, Northway Christian Church

  • Chosen artist to be announced Friday, February 20, 2026

  • Residency Dates: March 15, 2026 to February 15, 2027

  • Solo Exhibition:

    • Install January 10, 2027

    • Opening Reception: January 16, 2027 - 6-9pm

    • Exhibition dates: January 14 - February 6, 2027

    • Closing Reception / Artist Talk: February 6, 2027 - 1-4pm

    • Takedown: February 7, 2027
