In the heat of summer, the pavement of the parking lot shimmered like a river of light.
Artist Statement
I am trying to make connections with places and create a feeling of belonging when I make them the source of my subject matter. Intimate knowledge of a place is nurtured by close observation of things that are meant to be overlooked, whether they are purposely hidden, ignored, or supposed invisible because of ubiquity. Common as they are, things like alleys, side yards or weeds define an area with more truth than the facades that are purposely presented for public viewing.
