Celeste Grace, Laughing on Your Behalf, oil pastel, ink on cradled panel, 12x24in., $1,500
I was inspired by my morning routine of scrolling social media posts or FaceTiming my mom on the couch near my open patio door with a fresh cup of coffee at 9 a.m. on a sunny day. Even though I'm still on my phone, I still feel a sense of meditation and illumination, especially because of the morning sun on my skin and the cleansing feeling I get as I gossip with my mom about a news story or life update. I wanted to capture a positive moment in my life that I try to recreate every chance I get. With everything going on in the world, it seems like that time is precious.
Artist Statement
I am a hyper-realist/surrealist fine artist and mural artist born and raised in Dallas, Texas. My work revolves around identity, pride, and the ebb and flow of pop culture throughout time. Divisive socio-political ideology, religious commentary, and idolatry through pop culture intertwine with bold lines and saturated colors inspired by 90s street art, and the technical detail of a traditional realist painter to create a snapshot in time to document my augmented perspective of popular moments in American history.
