Luis Rodríguez Bucio
Consul General of Mexico in Dallas
General Luis Rodriguez Bucio is a retired General of the Mexican Army, and as of August 1st, 2025 was appointed by the President of Mexico as Consul General of Mexico in Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Rodríguez Bucio was born in the state of Michoacán. He was admitted at the Heroic Military College as a cadet in 1973 and graduated in 1977 as a second lieutenant. During his military career he served as commander of infantry platoon, infantry company and special forces battalion. Some of his military appointments were deputy chief of the fourth section of the Presidential Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff of Task Force Marte XXII in Sinaloa, where he organized the eradication of drug crops in the states of Sinaloa, Chihuahua, and Durango. He was awarded the Mexican Legion of Honor and served as director of the Mexican Army and Air Force’s Research and Development Center; chief of staff of a Military Zone in Aguascalientes; and military attaché in Germany and Poland.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Military Administration, a master’s degree in National Security and Defense, and a doctorate in Defense and National Security from the Center for Higher Naval Studies. He also studied at the German Military Staff School.
On 2019 he was appointed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador as the first-ever commander of the newly created National Guard, and on 2023, he was appointed Deputy Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection.
General Luis Rodríguez Bucio made history as the first Mexican military officer to preside over the Inter-American Defense Board in Washington, D.C.
