The Convergence exhibition is a platform for artists seeking to engage in collaborative artistry. We want to foster and enable a united community that empowers and uplifts participating artists. This will culminate in an exhibition held in the Art on Main Gallery, centered around connection, community, and unity.
All artists 18 years and older could apply. Artists who are historically underrepresented i.e., female-identifying, mothers, members of the LGBTQIA+, disabled, and/or ALAANA communities were encouraged to apply.
Connection between artists and community is a central goal and we believe that by working under the theme of convergence and collaboration we can create a feeling of unity within our arts community in an authentic way.
“Convergence” - The definition of convergence is, the act of converging and especially moving toward union.
Liz Jordan and thMTHRshp are partnering with Art on Main gallery owner, Andrea Lamarsaude, to curate and facilitate Convergence, an exhibition featuring collaborative work (two or more artists working on one piece) of local and national artists working under the theme of collaboration and centered around connection, community, and unity.
The conception and effort of the exhibition itself is a collaboration between two female-identifying gallery owners, uniting to create something unique for East Dallas community, the City of Dallas arts community and the community at large.
Collaborative arts practice involves artists working closely together, often over extended periods of time, to make art. It harnesses the experiences and skills of each person taking part to give meaning and creative expression to the project.
Collaboration builds comradeship as artists move toward a common goal. Often it results in the transfer of technical skills and knowledge from one artist to another. Two or more people working together create something entirely different than each person working alone. It is a symbiosis that results in a new type of work entirely.
