The way the fence pickets let that beautiful morning light drape over the Earth just filled me with a sense of power. All we really have to do to have more joy and light in our lives is make the space for it. The light is already there - all the time. As someone that has battled depression, this reminder is so helpful. If we can only remember to get away from the tongue and groove busyness of our lives and wedge in some space, we can experience the joy and flow we all crave.

Artist Statement
Julie Tijerina is a former graphic designer and at 50 is embarking on a new chapter as a photographer. The series Create Space honors our power to carve out the space for light to enter our lives. It serves as a reminder to intentionally, regularly, and purposefully create space in our lives for daydreaming, reflection, and creativity. We must consistently prioritize that space, so the light, joy, and fulfillment we crave can shine into our lives.
