Amanda Lenox (Frucci Valentine) , Fresh Air, acrylic on canvas, 36x36 in., $6,480

For a long time, I’ve been battling to uncover my true voice as a painter, wrestling with self-doubt and the fear that it might never emerge. I clung to the belief that if I worked at it relentlessly—day after day, through every trial and error—I’d eventually break through. 'Fresh Air' is the culmination of that unyielding drive. It’s a larger-scale piece born from my struggle to shed false versions of myself, to push beyond the fear that has held me back. Inspired by my own refusal to give up, this piece captures the moment I found my voice amidst the chaos—a breath of clarity, a testament to perseverance.

Artist Statement

From a young age, Frucci Valentine found solace in creating art - a way to express herself and pursue a life well lived. Yet, after being told she "shouldn't" be an artist, Frucci Valentine began the series "Leave Me With ROYGBIV,” a response to her biggest critic. Now, she uses her art to urge others to follow their dreams no matter what anyone says. With each stroke, she re-inspires herself and hopes to inspire other artists. Frucci Valentine’s philosophy is that one should seek art to support the healing journey. Her mission is to create art that inspires people to keep going, even in the aftermath of pain and suffering.
