Inspired by Luis Valdez’s poem Pensamiento Serpentino (Serpentine Thought) and the concept of In Lak’ech — “you are my other self” — this hand-carved two-color block print reflects a relationship of reciprocity between ourselves, each other, and the Mother Earth.
Two hummingbirds meet in symmetry as hands offer a blooming flower, while roots extend below as a symbol of shared origins, memory, and collective growth. The piece honors the idea that we are all interconnected — shaped by the relationships, histories, and land that allow us to flourish."
