Natalie Lammers, Gus and Woodrow, 30x30x2 in., acrylic on wood panel
I majored in Experimental Filmmaking at the Kansas City Art Institute where I combined my love for old movies and art. I later taught Graphic Design in the Magnet Program at Skyline High School. My body of work is a juxtaposition of my graphic/ cinematic side with a painterly esthetic. I get lost in the process of laying colors and textures. At the same time, I meticulously plan all my works in a digital reference before I begin. My works are both abstract and representational.
Existing between abstraction and representation, my paintings explore the balance between structure and spontaneity. Influenced by film, design, and the tactile nature of paint, I seek to create images that invite viewers to discover both narrative and emotion within richly layered surfaces.
